While I'm working on my novel, I'm going to make another try at using memes to keep my journal active. If you're on my flist, I'd welcome your participation with or without reciprocation. :)

Starting with my favorite:

1) Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment. (That way you're not leading the questions asked to fit the characters.)

2) Ask your flist to post questions in the comments.

For example:

'One, Nine and Fifteen move in together. Is this a really bad idea?'
'Under what circumstances might Five and Seven fall in love?'
'Which character on the list would you most want on your side in a zombie invasion?'

3) After your flist has asked enough questions, round them up and answer them using the fifteen characters you selected beforehand, then post them.

Credit where credit is due: this has a significant amount of dialogue exactly as said in the video game. The Dragon Age writers are really amazing.

Content: implied m!Lavellan/Dorian, morbid thoughts, Dalish culture headcanon, video game dialogue, spoilers, unreliable narrator, introspection
Summary: When I played I was disappointed by how few options there were for my Dalish Inquisitor to express himself without accidentally swearing himself to Andraste, agreeing with Thedosian cultural norms, or letting things go that I wanted to be able to have him argue about. This is the story of a Dalish Inquisitor who's an angry, awkward dork and proudly Dalish.

This chapter covers In Your Heart Shall Burn and flashes back to establish his characterization. Future chapters will have decreasing amounts of dialogue directly from the game, more action, and more Dorian romance.

Welcome to the delayed fourth quarter book roundup. Normally I put the books in order that I read them from least recent to most but this time I’m doing something slightly different. I finished three different series and as I was reading them I switched between series so I wouldn’t burn out. Thus, the series are in the order I completed them with commentary specific to each series first, followed by the books in serial order.

As always, these contain spoilers and my personal reactions to the works listed.

There is a crap load of stuff I want to do and haven't been able to for the last month and a half due to a combo of technical difficulties and a health problem. On the plus side, I do not have cancer or an infection. On the downside, no one can say wtf is going on and I'm on this heavy duty anti-inflammatory that's making me feel like crap.

If there's anything anyone wants me to look at, please link it in the comments. Otherwise I may miss stuff or it might be another month before I have the spoons to go digging through people's journals. I would love to talk to everyone on my flist, if anyone is worried about imposing. IT may take me awhile to respond because of aforementioned spoon issue and because the ongoing technical difficulty makes some of my sentences read like this:

itr migrhtr ber anotrherr month beforrerrrr I haver threrrrrr spoons tor go digging trhough people's jourrrnals

And that's exhausting to edit in large amounts.

I’ve been planning this meta about historical accuracy and treatment of women in depictions of history for awhile now and talking about writing it for almost as long. Part of the wait is me struggling to figure out how to phrase things so that I don’t sound dismissive of sexual assault. To be very clear, sex where any party has not freely given consent is never okay. I recently read The Paladin by CJ Cherryh and it gave me the answer in the form of what I would rather see. It’s not perfect by any means but it comes closer than most of what I’ve seen and read.

I have an acting gig in December. It's an unpaid collection of Shakespeare scenes. Technically the window to say yes closed Sept 15 but I'm awesome enough they contacted me again to make sure. I'm performing Dec 6th in a for real theater that isn't part of a school!

Fandom: Legend of the Seeker
Length: 3.8K
Rating: General
Pairings/Characters: Cara/OFC, Richard/Kahlan, Zedd, Jennsen, OMC, Dennee Amnell
Warnings: R/K wedding stuff, Cara relationship issues, family drama
Summary: Richard and Kahlan get married

Notes: I was intending to write a fic that took place durring the first years after "Tears" in the same universe as Endings Are Overrated and I have written a fic-like thing that covers the wedding. I am debating on whether this should be a separate story in the series or the first chapter in the year-fic. Feedback on this or other aspects is very appreciated.

Severed Souls is the name of Terry Goodind's latest novel. The official summary:

From the far reaches of the D'Haran Empire, Bishop Hannis Arc and the ancient Emperor Sulachan lead a vast horde of Shun-Tuk and other depraved "half-people" into the Empire's heart, raising an army of the dead in order to threaten the world of the living. Meanwhile, far from home, Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell must defend themselves and their followers from a series of terrifying threats, despite a magical sickness that depletes their strength and which, if not cured, will take their lives...sooner rather than later.

"Richard saw the point of a sword blade sticking out from between the man’s shoulder blades. He spun back toward Richard after throwing the woman out of the opening, ready to attack. It seemed impossible, but the man looked unaffected by the blade that had impaled him through the chest.

It was then, in the weak light from the fire pit off to the side, that Richard got his first good look at the killer.

Three knives were buried up to their brass cross-guards in the man’s chest. Only the handles were showing. Richard saw, too, the broken end of a sword blade jutting out from the center of the man’s chest. The point of that same blade stuck out from the man’s back.

Richard recognized the knife handles. All three were the style carried by the men of the First File.

He looked from those blades that should have killed the big man, up into his face. That was when he realized the true horror of the situation, and the reason for the unbearable stench of death."

From Terry Goodkind, author of the Sword of Truth series, comes a sweeping new novel of Richard Rahl, Kahlan Amnell, and their world.

Am I the only one who thinks this is starting to look like fanfic of the show but with worse grammar?

I play games for escapism and improving my spatial reasoning and eye-hand coordination. What follows is a lot about why one game doesn't give me an escape from homophobia, misogyny, transphobia, and the general skeeviness of gamer dudes.
